Dauna
Dean is a self-taught artist, working
in various art mediums from wood, oils, acrylics, water
colors, and colored pencil to pine needle basketry.
She
resides in Vancouver, Washington with her husband Zack.
Both
she and Zack have contracted art work with Disney World,
Universal Studios and with Caesar's Palace Las Vegas.
They
both have won numerous first-place awards with their carvings,
which are on display in colleges, museums and private collections.
Third-place
in the Miniature World Class Carving Division of a Kestrel-The
Ward Foundation World Carving Competition, Ocean City,
MD. 1989.
First-place
in the Southeast Wildlife Competition with a carving of
a Screech Owl. This was featured on the "Good Morning
America Show" with Jim Fowler. 1990.
First-place
in the New Mexico State Fair Fine Arts Competition with
a miniature wood carving of a Green-winged Teal Hen. 1993.
Juried
into the Colored Pencil Society of America Exhibition Chicago
2005; Albuquerque 2006.
